on friday the 2 april mueros will take the stage at the volume, nice…. lost likely their last concert before moving to brussels in search of the perfect chips.
also on friday the 19 april, one of mueros will provide live music (acoustic guitar+loops+space echo) for a dance performance on the inauguration of roxane petitier’s photographic exhibition ‘mouvements anthropomorphiques’ as part of the ‘mars aux musées’ season.
then on sunday the 4th april animal vacarme (feat 2 members of mueros) will once more grace the stage of the volume, as a pre-celebration of the release of their first album (due out mid-april/may on vinyl/download).
not only that but also, one of mueros has had the damn fool idea of playing solo acoustic concerts…..
right a bit of a chronological confusion last night so this is now an edited/corrected version….
Its taken nearly 2 months to get around to writing this post, but hey, things happen in the real world too.
I think we left off somewhere around brussels, in the middle of the whole thing, then things got more intense, messy and interesting, which are probably 3 words that would quite adequately describe mueros, so it all fits together.
So after Brussels we crossed another border to get to Tilburg, bit of a revelation really, well received, well fed, well watered by Jan and the crew at cul de sac, nothing really bad to say about this gig to be honest a few hiccups here and there. Even our friend Baz from Utrecht came over specially to see us which was fantastic. A late night, much drinking, partying, all good.
We managed to blag a filler gig in tournai, thanks to eric from maria goretti quartet the day after – more beer…. too much beer to be honest.
And finally Paris…. ah Paris, cramped streets, stressed out van logistics, certain members of the crew deciding not to sleep at all, but otherwise good. Sharing the bill with fellow niçois Hannah (fantastic show, and good to meet up in such exotic climes) and Zumabrek. We did ok for a first show in paris, good energy.
So thanks to everyone who helped and received us so cordially during the tour no room to mention names here so you all know who you are.
And of course a huge thanks to our tour companions Plimplim (live sound, opening sets wherever possible) and Steph Coda (video and lighting wherever possible).
In conclusion? …well it seems so long ago now i have evidently forgotten tons of details so i hope you enjoy the photos and the mp3 and can try to imagine the rest…. i’m sure the others will add their 3pence worth over the next few weeks. Steph is beavering away at the 23 hours of footage taken over the 2 week period, i’m sure there’ll be some fruits of his work to be seen soon.
well we ain’t any richer than we were before, and we don’t really care, onwards and upwards, that which does not kill us can only make us stronger – any questions?
Here’s an mp3 of ‘traces’ live at Nantes from the only audio recording of the tour:
hey there, half the band is sick but we’re still here, heading into the home straight.
this is what is left of the tour van….
start with shouts….
big shouts to denis and le Kran (nantes) for everything
shouts to David, Nathaly and Nina for putting up with us in tours for longer than expected
shouts to Bastien and ouimaisnon in lille
and shouts to Jason in Brussels for putting us up here exactly where i’m writing this.
so what news from the front?
so the gig in the hague got cancelled last saturday and we just lazed around tours instead,
lille was yet another light and sparsely crowded concert but the vibe was good, and the competition was stiff (lot of gigs in lille and the area).
monday was spent bumming around a beach resort on the belgian coast, very cold, wet, impressive landscapes, long discussions about the future of music and the cost of mussels.
the famous english breakfast……
and finally last night brussels, a good place to play the cafe dada, good beer, a few people, finally playing in froeign climes and to a different mentality, noticable change.
good news is that we got a date for friday in tournai (BE) at the Cornwall, one less day off is probably a good thing.
on the occasion of the opening of the ‘deltour design’ furniture shop in marseilles, mueros made a rare appearance as a duo (2 x guitars plus drum machine/space echo/noise) supporting dj xxx at the machine à coudre.
à l’occasion de l’ouverture du magasin « deltour design » à marseilles, mueros s’est exceptionnellement produit en duo (2 guitares + drum machine + space echo + noise) en appui de dj xxx à « la machine à coudre ».
much was drunk, much noise was improvised, and here are some photos taken by pascale (animal vacarme) during the show.
alcool, bruits et improvisation ; voici quelques photos prises par pascale (animal vacarme) pendant le concert.
many thanks, un grand merci, to everyone at the ‘machine à coudre’ (lovely people) and ‘deltour design’ (lovely people too for that matter).
in december 2008, mueros performed ‘le temps des cerises’ live for the first and only time (to date) live, this event was captured in photo by stef coda, you can see them here:
